KEEP Inaugurates State of Art Quantum Computing and Assistive Technologies Lab

The KNUST Engineering Education Project (KEEP) has officially inaugurated a cutting-edge Quantum Computing and Assistive Technologies Lab, dedicated to pioneering research and education in quantum information science and assistive technologies. The opening ceremony at the lab, facilitated by the Catholic Chaplaincy, Rev. Fr. Anthony Narh, marked a commitment to pursuing frontier knowledge.

The lab's establishment is the climax of a series of strategic engagements with world-renowned experts, positioning the KNUST College of Engineering as a nascent hub for quantum technology. The lab promises to equip a new generation of African scientists and engineers with the skills to lead in the next digital revolution.

Prof. Jerry John Kponyo, Project Lead of KEEP and other project staff were present at the opening, witnessing the fruition of a long-term vision. “Quantum is the next big thing after AI, and this lab offers an opportunity for building capacity in quantum computing. Also, the Assistive Technologies Lab ensures that as we roll out emerging technologies, no one is left behind,” Prof. Kponyo asserted.

The Quantum Lab is a beacon of innovation, a direct result of strategic partnerships, and a clear signal that KNUST is ready to contribute significantly to the global quantum landscape. As KEEP continues to drive its ambitious projects, this lab will be instrumental in shaping a future where Africa is not just a participant but a leader in next-generation scientific research.
